It’s October 1st, which means voter counts at TopWebComics have been reset for the month! Please help support Garanos by voting here. Today’s new vote incentive is a close-up panel of Geilen’s Angry Face™. Remember that you can vote once per day, not just on update days!
While you’re at it, why not join WebcomicZ and add Garanos as a favorite? Favorites help me increase my rank even more than votes, which helps drive more traffic to Garanos!
Here are some bits and pieces to look at this weekend!
Yesterday, my host had a data center outage, which affected all my websites, including Garanos, Jigworthy, and AlexHeberling.com. If you’re seeing this, then obviously the problem has been fixed, but there will still be some sporadic server errors while they tweak the system to avoid something like this happening in the future. ^_^
Fes of PSI, the Webcomic Beacon, and many other projects, had a birthday a couple weeks ago and took sketch requests, so I asked him to draw Garanos!
And my friend Amanda (aka AyaBlue) made me a Garanos feltie! (Like a plushie, but small and made of felt. Thus, feltie!)
These pictures are a little blurry, since I took them with my camera phone. I’m going to get some better ones later when I unpack my Artist Alley stuff. ^_^ Amanda does plushies, felties, and cosplay on commission, if anyone is interested in having her make you something! She’s fantastic, and is one of the best cosplayers I know!
Tomorrow is 24 Hour Comic Day! I will be starting my day at noon EDT (which is -4 GMT for all the international folks). I think what I’m going to do is steal Scott Kurtz’s idea and do a buffer for Garanos. My goal will be two weeks of updates, or 6 pages.
I’d really like to do another true 24HC, but I also don’t want Garanos to fall by the wayside! Perhaps this winter I’ll hunker down and do a new 24HC to make up for this year. ^_^
I’m going to be streaming my work on Livestream as much as I can. I fiddled with my camera last night and found a pretty good way to point it so I can record the pencil-and-paper drawings of the comic pages before I scan them into Photoshop. I hope all of you can spare a moment or two to stop by and cheer me on!

New Vote Incentive
On TWC, the new VI is a panel from an upcoming page!
24 Hour Comic Day
To recap, this year I did a two-week buffer for Garanos instead of a true 24 Hour Comic, and I finished 5 out of the tartgeted 6 pages completely! I tried Livestreaming the whole time, but unfortunately when I got to the coloring stage, Photoshop and the Procaster software wouldn’t play nice, and it was making Photoshop too slow to get anything done at all, so I completed the rest of the pages without screencasting them. (If I hadn’t lost 2-3 hours futzing with the Procaster, I probably could’ve finished all 6.) I did get some footage of me drawing comic pages with my webcam, though, so that’s good. ^_^
I’ll post a more in-depth account of 24HCD over on my blog later.
Tsubasacon
I’m afraid I’m backing out of Tsubasacon this year. It’s simply not cost-effectice at the moment, so for anyone who was going to come say hello, I apologize. Maybe next year!
ISCA Caricature Convention
As of a few days ago, I’m officially a member of the International Society of Caricature Artists, and I’ll be going to their week-long convention at the beginning of November! This convention is back-to-back with Youmacon, which will be an interesting experience.

New Vote Incentive! I had this sketch lying around with intent to fully render it up for the Women of Webcomics pinup project, but I ended up doing it rather painterly with most of the original sketch intact. I think it’s rather nice, and a little different from what I do all the time these days. Click below to vote on TWC and see it at full size!
Con Announcement! I’ll be at Steel City Con in December! I have a table in the Artist Alley, and I’ll have the good fortune of meeting up with Kez and Pete, as well, so I hope to meet (and make) some readers there.
Huge news, everyone! Garanos is one of the finalists for the 2009 SPACE Prize in the webcomics category!
Earlier this year, in April, I attended SPACE as an exhibitor for the first time, and submitted some comics for the SPACE Prize, as well as submitting Garanos in the webcomic category. I think this is the first year they’ve even had a webcomic category, so it’s going to be amazing and a great honor if I’m one of the winners! The votes are tallied up among the 2009 exhibitors, so wish me luck.
