AnimePunch is a convention here in Central Ohio that I’ve been staffing for the past couple years. (Artist Alley and Con Operations, for the curious.)
If you have never been to AP, then you, good sir, have not lived. AP is a college-aged convention, meaning that there is a huge percentage of educational, lecture-style panels about anime and anime fandom. Otaku of all ages are welcome, but we do not dumb things down. We party, we watch anime, we analyze, we debate, we use big words, and we kick ass.
If you think you’re up to the challenge, then Preregistration is going on until March 27th, and it’s only 25 bucks! (We are also a notoriously affordable con.)
ROW ROW!

Registration may be affordable, but I’m afraid I cannot justify the trip from Denver, especially since I’m getting married in June. Would that you could make it to Nan Desu Kan out here (where I’m a Video staffer), but I know better to expect that.
It would be cool to get out that way (I have an old online friend in Denver) but I probably wouldn’t be able to do it this year. I also don’t think my car would survive more than one 10+ hour round trip drive per year. ^_^;; Perhaps in the future, though. I’d like to get out west in general in the future.
