One of the big reasons I kept the struggle with Styx and the purge of the Harbinger inside was so Garanos would have easy access to her sword to help her fight in this part. Having her summon the sword magically was a bit too Deus Ex Machina for me, so it made more practical sense for her sword to be physically close to her when it came time for her to use it.
