And that's how it ended. Just that. No real resolution at all. No mention of what Garanos was going to do with herself, no explanation of what happened to the rest of the town, nothing. I am so glad I waited a couple years and worked on the story more before putting pencil to paper again. And in many ways, I'm glad I lost interest in coloring these old pages and made the switch to color for the Art & Tech Show. In the intervening time I'd also started coloring in my characteristic lineless style, so I didn't want to have to propogate my old illustration habits just to get this comic out the door.
The ending I wrote for Volume One posed a problem for me when it came time to think about the sequel again. I had all sorts of ideas and plans for things to explore, but the ending tied things up so nicely, and gave Volume One the feeling of a complete thought. Garanos was intended to be a standalone graphic novel, like the short story that preceded it. Do I want to derail all of that by continuing the story?
Well, the answer turned out to be yes. The question of whether it was the right answer or not has yet to be seen. This concludes my presentation of the Garanos Originals. Thanks for following along, I really hope you got some enjoyment out of it.
