Oooh snap. I love Geilen’s expression in the first panel. I must say, I’m finding this scene very compelling, the split focus really works.

wow. so the big reveal. it’s not totally unrequited love and garanos is not oblivious. but why is styx so torn? he can wait until they find out if ethreden’s still alive. it’s not like he’s been waiting years or anything. sweet that geilen sympathizes though.

ok i re-read a bit – with all this talk about feelings, nobody’s shown a lick of empathy for garanos just, what, yesterday? finding out that her parents are dead and sister a prisoner. yet for some insane reason she has to decide NOW, TODAY what she’s doing AFTER the quest – upon which they have only just embarked, to find her fiancee who’s a hostage – if not dead, is over? that’s more than absurd. like she doesn’t have bigger problems. sorry, this is a plot hole. either styx is juvenile to the point of 12 years old with zero empathy or it’s a massive plot hole. i’d delete three pages and start again, with questions of concern about her feelings about her dead parents and endangered sister, who is now utterly alone, even without her fiancee.

Well, I don’t think it’s weird that Styx is feeling this way. Maybe it is strange that Garanos isn’t thinking about her parents and sister more, but why can’t Styx be thinking about the woman he loves? O.o And didn’t…um…Senberan? Right? Anyway, didn’t he just talk about his own fiancee, so I dunno…I guess I’m not surprised that the topic would come up…

With so much on her mind, and considering the short amount of time in which this has all happened, Garanos is doing all she can to simply focus on the task at hand, and pushing everything else to the back until the time is right. She will get her chance to mourn.

I don’t think there’s a plot hole here. It’s pretty natural for a shock like hearing ones parents are dead not to hit all at once.

I can empathize a little with Styx, too … it’s … difficult, to put it simply, when you find yourself in love with someone who may not feel the same way.

Not exactly a “big reveal,” since it was fairly obvious (or maybe I think so because I’ve just reread the archives). Remember?
    “I don’t love her!”
    “You’re a terrible liar.”
