Of course, my previous comment should not be interpreted as meaning to call you a copycat… It is merely the first thing that came to my mind, upon reading the comments of those who wished Garanos would have killed Geilen…

And hey: if one of the best can make it work, why not go with it too, right? That’s what tropes are for: narrative elements which happen on a regular basis, in different stories, and are each handled in their own way by each author. You just have to find your own way to make it work, without it seeming cliché. And that’s how one gets to see just how good an author you are.

BTW, love your comic, both story-wise, and the art style. Been catching up on the archives, but not done yet. As of right now, I still have 69 pages to go…

Garanos showing her mercy might come back to bite… but that doesn’t mean it was the wrong decision. There are some things you can’t do without changing yourself, and that includes killing a helpless enemy in cold blood. It might make tactical sense, but you wouldn’t be the same person afterwards. Garanos has already had some experience on what it feels like to be a monster – it stands to reason that she’d be reluctant to kill.

What’s quicker than slitting someone’s throat? Especially if that someone is on their knees in front of you with their head pulled back by their hair.
Oh, and you already have a sharp, sharp, very sharp spider’s leg at their throat. I doubt she couldn’t spare half a second to finish Geilen.
I think it’s pity and/or mercy, more than lack of time.

That, and it allows for some wonderful story later on.

Kez, I don’t think it’s mercy — more a “I don’t have the time to deal with you now” thing. However, your advice goes double in that situation. She should have, at least, tied Geilen up.

Geilen, you are an IDIOT! You should have taken Garanos’ offer when she suggested healing you. Her companion is top apprentice to the Red Moth, a mage of great renown. If he could not heal you, no one can, and the cultist’s “promise” is most likely a lie.

Hm.. it -would- be interesting to see her live. I think that’s a good idea. But who knows what’s going to happen. x3 I’ll be happy when Gara gets the hell out of there with the others. MAYBE her fiance, though I don’t sapport the pairing. xDD

To be fair she hasn’t directly killed anyone in the main group that we’ve seen, and it is not exactly betrayal when she was never actually on their side to start with. But I agree desperation makes one do crazy things, the desire to live at almost any cost is more or less hardwired into the mind. For better or worse.
