Huh. I was actually right with my crazy speculation for a change. Neat!

I wonder if this will be enough to turn Geilen’s loyalty? Or if Gharsena will just threaten to turn Geilen into a zombie if she doesn’t continue to cooperate?

Gharsena admited it, so it must not matter if Geilen knows it. I suspect that Gharsena already can control Geilen at least enough so that she cannot be attacked by her. The disease may also have progressed more than it appears on the surface, so that a near instantaneous transition for live to undead is possible.

Gharsena is NUTS! Depraved to the extreme! I think Gharsena will turn Geilen into a zombie no matter what happens. “You have done well, here is your cure.” “Now get up, I don’t have all day.”

    Geilen: “Rreagh!”

I also love the way Geilen completely turned her back on Garanos.

it looks like he’s got his hands up her skirt
tsk tsk isn’t he supposed to be engaged?! well to be fair Garanos hasn’t been exactly true blue herself

@ willis: It only looks that way. She needs to be close to him to get the knife around his throat and his hands are tied behind his back. I’m sure that if he tried to grope her, he’d be breathing blood. Somehow, I don’t think that’s on his mind.

@My, if they’re still on the island then Gharsena has, in her mind, enough troops and zombies to overpower the lot of them.

@Azure, beforehand Garanos was the threat. Now Geilen knows that Gharsena caused her condition, she’s trying to integrate the new information and face her attacker. She knows that Garanos is unlikely to attack her whilst her knife is still at Eth’s throat.

Isn’t that a villain rule, to not tell your minions about the evil deeds until AFTER the good guy has been dispatched? Sometimes I think the bad guys (or girl, in this case) just like to hear themselves speak. On another note, the colour and lighting here is so lovely. Very atmospheric.

@Aquila You mean this set of rules?

Red Coat Girl at Youmacon here, following up on my word and posting a comment. Yup.

Heey… Isn’t that awfully nice of Gharsena to bring Ethreden so that he can, not only reveal how manipulative Gharsena is, but get rescued? Well, the later is the optimist in me speaking but, hey, why not hope for at least one happy rainbow in the ending.

my2cents, oh, i hope you’re wrong! awful. sounds like a good plot line though.

willis, disagree, his hands are tied, possibly brushing or touching the front of her ‘skirt’ if we can call it that, but they’re probably tied tightly.

vaidia, good point. i propose that gharsena brought ethreden to lure garanos in, overestimating garanos’ powers in the investigative department. gara’s apparent physical prowess helps her out, but her mental prowess appears somewhat lacking. as is OFTEN the case with comic book heroes. i mean heck, if they figured everything out as fast as sherlock holmes, where would the excitement be?
