    Aha! It’s a shield. That wasn’t very clear from the previous page.

    “If I was worried about being safe, I wouldn’t be here right now.”

    Actually, Garanos means If it’s “‘infecto beams,’ I need someone who can HEAL US. I can’t take the risk with you.”

    I am asking for a final clarification: How many additional limbs did Garanos get?
    * Eight limbs in four bilateral pairs, like in the fourth panel
    * Seven limbs in three bilateral pairs and the seventh centered between the undermost pair, like in the last panel
    * Eight or seven limbs depending on the specific situation (standing? running? fighting?)

    Seven, which corresponds to the Harbinger symbol. You can count 8 in panel four because I accidentally gave her 8 when I was painting that panel, and didn’t realize it until I was nearly done, and had merged that panel into one layer. I’ll correct it at some point, but I wanted to get this page out the door. ^_^;

    Oh neat! I never bothered counting the actual extra limbs and didn’t catch the match between that and the symbol until now. Very nicely done.

    Yeah but; why an odd number of legs?

  8. Alex

    Basically, because I made up the symbol before I created the character to go along with it.

    I can see that the tatoo looks better with an odd number of spikes. However, an odd number of limbs simply doesn’t work. Did there have to be a 1:1 correlation?

    No offense, but an odd number of legs doesn’t work on a humanoid demon guy (or girl in this case)? Having legs pop out of your back is already pretty far off the beaten path of normal, and it’s not like they’re used for walking or anything like that. Demons tend to be pretty unnatural, so I don’t see much of a problem with it.

    Though I sort of wonder just how useful that one centered in her lower back is. The others sort of reach around her, but that one is kind of limited. Have to run that up between or around the legs to attack I guess, but that kind of stunt could trip her up.

  11. Azure

    Unless it’s designed to attack beings coming up from behind, yes, an odd numbered leg is rather inconvenient.

    Of course, if you wanna look at it that way you gotta wonder what the “legs” are really for anyway. I mean, they look like spider legs, but they aren’t being used for walking. Instead they are used for attacking, a rather unusual purpose for spider legs. Meh, if we really tried to make everything in a manner that made sense we’d never have anything interesting going on and we’d get rather confused with things in real life that don’t make much sense.
