Really belated question: Way back in Kaigan, Garanos was wearing plate shoulder-pieces and chest plate and banded torso armour under her cloak (see pg 28 for full kit, and she’s still wearing it when she falls through – pg 41). Yet when they set out in the tunnels she is unarmoured and remains so. Strikes me as strange.

That nitpick aside, I just did the entire archive in 2 hours, and loved it. :)

I notice that none of the characters have yet picked up on the ‘my son’ comment by Maryoku. Not sure whether I’m pleased or disappointed that Styx actually has a “powerful” past.

@Andrew: She removed her armor at the end of Part 1 to help Styx repair his roof, and didn’t bother to put it back on, since she put it on in the first place to look more intimidating as she attempted to leave Kaigan. Which didn’t really work. ^_^; (And Styx is Maryoku’s adopted son, not biological, in case there was a mix-up.)

Well, he was always darker-skinned that Garanos. Maybe because she’s from so far to the norht.

Finally, the guy gets the girl. Love the mushy stuff even if I am a failure at being mushy.

Do those cheek lines actually show up on normal people? They both look kinda emaciated with their cheek bones showing.

Wha-? No! I finished the archive, dangit :/ now I have to wait like everyone else.

I love your coloring style, by the way, Alex. I’ve also liked watching your art improve as I read the archive (although it was definitely good to begin with). Your facial expressions in particular have improved a lot. :)

Don’t forget to check out the alternate backgrounds for the last panel. It’ll still be up for a vote incentive until tomorrow. :D http://topwebcomics.com/vote/2166/default.aspx

Overall not a bad comic. The drawings are good and good use of colour and lighting.

To be critical, the plot is at best average (was the slow pace at the start a deliberate choice, or was it forced by the ponderous writing style? not necessarily a criticism here)

Main issue is with the characterisations. Positives are strong women characters who carry the story. However, they are pretty similar, and that detracts from the traitor sub-plot. I would guess they all reflect the author’s self-image – to improve, base them on different people, especially those who are not your close friends.

Unfortunately, all the male characters were totally interchangeable (was it deliberate that they are visually similar – I hope this was a deliberate comment of some kind) and basically emotional doormats. Doormat characters are fine but you should reflect that in the rest of their personality to make a rounded character.
