The End? already? Now I wonder if there will be more of Garanos somewhere in the future, because I wonder how things will turn out when she gets back home.
Yes, although I did hope it would continue, this is expected.
It was a great story, and this last scene ended it well. Thankyou for writing it.
Were you going to release a book? I assume you would, since I imagine many people here would buy it.
If you don’t want to write anymore on Garanos then at least we have a good ending that we’re all reasonably happy with, but I’m sure that we do all want to know what’d going to happen in this war in Caywein if you ever decide to come back to it.
So, yes, great comic. And keep us updated on future projects :)
Congratulations, Alex! I have such mixed emotions about this journey ending…isn’t it funny how a reader can start to take ownership of something they’ve had absolutely no creative part in? Well. Keep us posted. It’s been a lot of fun.
As much as I’d love to see the story continue, and find out how the war turns out, this is also a very nice way to end this. It is the end of an advanture, and the promise of a new beginning (for them, even if we don’t see it). Their future is wide open.
I just stumbled across this comic on its very last day thanks to Shawn Gaston over at the comic Clockworks and spent half my afternoon reading it. Your artwork and style is absolutely wonderful, and I greatly look forward to following any of your other works. :) You certainly closed out this novel at a perfect point, but there IS a little part of me that hopes to read more tales from this setting and characters!
Thank you so much, everyone! I’m very satisfied with this ending myself, so I’m glad you guys are, too. Now on to the questions.
Will there be a sequel/will you continue the story?
Not in the immediate future. In my opinion, there will always be stories to tell, which is why I’ve purposely left it wide open if I ever wish to return to Garanos again. If I did, the focus would switch to her sister, Selaranos, and the consequences in Caywien, etc. Maybe someday, but certainly not now.
What are you doing next? How can I get updates on that?
I don’t have any plans for a big project or long-running webcomic at the moment, since there are some short projects of mine that have fallen by the wayside as I finished Garanos. I’m going to be adding to Corner on Main, a comic I started for a college course, as well as another chapter of The Shepherd. I’d also like to turn Alex’s Guide into a regularly-updated webcomic, since it’s so much fun to make.
I’ve never worked with a writer, so I’m interested in trying that out for short projects to see whether I like it or not. I’m also going to look for commission work.
At the moment, you can keep track of my projects via my blog. ^_^
Will there be a book printed? Volume I and Volume II are already out. Volume III (parts 13-18) will be out this summer, and the plan is to open preorders by the end of May. I will have printed copies in time for ConnectiCon in July.
As much as I would like to make a complete, 487-page behemoth of a book, it’s not financially viable for me, so it’ll remain in three volumes.
Crazy to see it end, I’ll miss it. That said, I’d love to see some of your older work expanded on. Whatever you end up doing, have fun! Thanks for the fabulous comic.
Thanks so much for all your hard work putting this comic together! It must be a fantastic feeling to finally get to say “the end”! Congratulations! I hope I get there someday, myself. :)
Hey Alex.
Firstly, congratulations. it’s a brilliant comic I’m going to be sad to not have it to look forward too every few days. I’ve been a big fan right from the begining and I feel like a little part of me is very much attached to those two, I’m glad it ended the way it did. I’ve been privately rooting for those two ever since I saw Gara fell into Styx’s life (and through his roof.)
Honestly, I wan’t the story to continue, but I could be happy with it ending here. so again congratualations, and think you for all you time and effort in sharing it with us.

I love this comic, and it’s going to be really weird to not check it every day it updates…
But awesome comic! you must feel really proud of what you’ve accomplished.
Wow. Awesome work, what else is there to say.
I had been reading Garanos for nearly two years now, I love the story. And it was actually told whole, to the End o.O Good job on that, on the characters, the story, and your persistance with it. Im glad I could make it little part of my life while reading it regularly ^^
It’s sad to see this end. I loved following Garanos all this time, but it’s a really satisfying ending, even if lots of people died, and Garanos wasn’t able to accomplish exactly what she set out to do. At least we know she’s in good hands now.
I’ve been reading (and lurking) for a long time, but I just wanted say that you’ve done a great job with this comic, have fun on your next project, and Good luck to you!
Impressive. Very few of those who start on the webcomic path finish their work.
Well, the story is told. I’ll keep an ear to the ground for your future ventures.
I really can’t wait to read/view more of you’re work:) I loved Garanos, only found it maybe a year ago and spent the following 2 days reading untill I was caught up with the comic lol. You have amazing artwork and impressive writting skills, maybe you should try and further you’re already great accomplishments? Just a suggestion :)
Can’t wait to see more from you hun.

I’m not going to lie, but this was a bit too… rushed.
The emotions between Styx and Garanos.
I mean, it took all of 3 pages of knowing her for him to get all gaga?
And Ethreden… it was a bit too convenient for him to die.
I dunno, the plot seemed kind of typical. And Garanos didn’t seem to struggle enough- like how she fought off the Harbinger and got his powers.
Still, it was an entertaining read. Congrats to finishing it.
Awesome comic even, though I found it really late it seems; it was really fun reading through the whole thing. Its also really rare and awesome for someone to complete the story and bring it to a conclusion. Nice work.
Well. I started reading this yesterday, and finished it today. A little late, but nonetheless:
Thank you, Alex.
It is such a great feeling to sit down and read a tale that evolves in every way. The art, the story, the characters, the very feel of the comic all changes beautifully.
It shows that you don’t need a million characters to have depth and development, you don’t need to be jumping from kingdom to town to city to Goddess-knows where else, to get the feel of an entire world at your fingertips, and you don’t need overthetop petty drama to bring people to tears.
I was hesitant at first to read this comic, as I haven’t had much luck with finding newer ones as of late, but ‘Garanos’ is fantastic, and very easily one of my favourites now. And it ended with a great conclusion, left all of us wanting more, but without leaving a bunch of loose ends untied.
To cut my blabbering short: ‘Garanos’ was beautiful, awesome, epic and -fun-. ^.^
First of all, I have to state that this webcomic was a pleasure to read, and I’m extremely glad I found it. The story is well thought-through, and exciting all the way.
I may be a bit sentimental, but I expected a bit more happier ending, I never liked characters dying, no matter what they did. I’m quite sad about Geilen and most of all Ethreden, although we only met him at the end of the comic.
It’s probably just me, but I wanted him to survive, and – don’t know – marry someone else or just bow before Styx’s and Garanos’ love.
It’s a shame too, that Geilen couldn’t survive, and passed away without a word like “I’m sorry”. He attacked the witch but I still feel something is left out, it’s not enough for her to be at peace really.
Anyway, that’s only my opinion, and I AM a bit too sentimental. (At least I realized after I wrote this.)
It’s still awesome, that they have eachother after so many losses.
I’ll just stop blabbering now :)
Thank you, for this awesomeness. I’m looking forward to read more of your work, and waiting for Selaranos’ story to start ^^
Been reading since the near the start (I think) and I loved the art style from the first glance, great story to boot too. Sad to see it end, but so it must with all good things.
Hey, Alex, just wanted to give some praise. I usually don’t read webcomics, but this one had an interesting enough character in Garanos for me to keep reading from the time Garanos broke a wrist without any effort. And then, I got immersed in the story and the fantastic artwork, and I have to say that I loved it completely, from start to finish; so much so that I read it from page 1 to the end in one continuous, hours’-long sitting. I enjoyed it so thoroughly that I’m probably going to end up buying the physical comic. Also, I seriously hope you continue on from here, but even so it was a great ending and a satisfying resolution to a relationship.
Kudos!
No Nonononononnononononononononoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! This can’t be the end!!!!!!! More! I comandeth- er, strongly suggesteth you to make more!!!! Lola great job btw!
I just wanted to tell you that I read this work from beginning to end in one day. It really touched me. The art was beautiful, and so was the storyline. Thanks for the adventure.
Superb comic Alex! Looking forward to seeing what new projects you have in store!!! Thanks much for doing Garanos!
The End? already? Now I wonder if there will be more of Garanos somewhere in the future, because I wonder how things will turn out when she gets back home.
Awww. ‘Nuff said.
This is one of the coolest comics I’ve read, and you have brought it to a satisfying conclusion.
Noooo. It can’t be over, I’m not ready yet.
yay! *applauds* take a bow, Alex, you’ve earned it. how will you keep us updated on new projects?
its so sad to see such an amazing comic end!! deffinintally keep us informed on your next move ^^
Yes, although I did hope it would continue, this is expected.

GLEE! A happy Garanos, FTW!
*stands up; applauds*
Aww… I’m going to miss this comic! It’s a rare sight to see one that comes to completion. Congrats to you and be proud of a story well told! :D
Yes indeed, a rare sight to see one actually complete. Most don’t finish at all and are stuck in permanent hiatus *cough*Twelve Dragons*cough*.
Congratulation Alex!
Congratulations, Alex! I have such mixed emotions about this journey ending…isn’t it funny how a reader can start to take ownership of something they’ve had absolutely no creative part in? Well. Keep us posted. It’s been a lot of fun.
I’m happy to have read the whole thing now, but *sniff* that means it’s over!!! Volume three, or are you going to do a new story?
As much as I’d love to see the story continue, and find out how the war turns out, this is also a very nice way to end this. It is the end of an advanture, and the promise of a new beginning (for them, even if we don’t see it). Their future is wide open.
Nicely done.

When does the full book get printed?
Incredible! Is there any chance of a sequel?
Thank you so much, everyone! I’m very satisfied with this ending myself, so I’m glad you guys are, too. Now on to the questions.

So. Much. Confliction. So good. But it can’t be over. I want more! But it was good. Hrmm.
Suggestion: no more projects, jesus, take a break.
Interesting discovery: I can comment on here. Took me 487 pages to work it out, but oh well.
The actual comment: I AM A LURKER and have been for a while. But hey. Well done. It’s wonderful.
Great webcomic, Alex. I went through the archives starting last week, and of course now it ends.
Congratulations!
Now I need to go back and read the entire thing in one go!
Crazy to see it end, I’ll miss it. That said, I’d love to see some of your older work expanded on. Whatever you end up doing, have fun! Thanks for the fabulous comic.
Thanks for a great comic! I’m kinda sad to see it end, though. But things are resolved nicely so it’s all good!
Thanks so much for all your hard work putting this comic together! It must be a fantastic feeling to finally get to say “the end”! Congratulations! I hope I get there someday, myself. :)
Thank you for giving us this comic, it was a great ride.
I wish you great things in your future. ;)
;_; awesome ending for an awesome comic
I hate to see this story go but I do like how you left it open ended. It was wonderful while it lasted. I’ll be awaiting the next project.
Congratulations!
You are finished with Garanos, and this certainly was quite some work.
I apreciate your work :D
Wait, webcomics can end? :o
All kidding aside, I’ve been reading for a while now, and have been very impressed with both the story and the art. Thanks for hours of enjoyment!
Thanks for the good webcomic! I enjoyed it start to end, and I just wanted to say thanks really.
And so it ends … too bad there will be no volume IV.
However … congratulations for finishing this comic!
I had a great time reading it :.-)

Reamarkable mate. you almost had me cry tears of joy at the end there. at least, i have a somewhat sour throat now :)
i am really glad how everything turned out, especially since the lovers got each other :)
it really was an experience, and i am looking forward to your future work :)
good luck mate :)
This is the first time I have witnessed a long webcomic end normally…
Gonna miss it, really:( One of my favorites
Great ending for a great comic! This is the first(and last) time I’ve posted, I believe.
I love this comic, and it’s going to be really weird to not check it every day it updates…

Interesting and informative. But will you write about this one more?
hah, I found this comic like 3 comics before it ended. Figures. Cant wait to read more of your work
Hey. I’m kinda sad that Garanos is over, but a great ending to a fantastic comic. Congrats! :)

This was a truly satisfying comic. I enjoyed every page especially how kept stxy ture to his character right through the comic.
I like the moth shadow they (he? she?) are casting. Nice touch.
Aaoh, When I find it the comic was already finished. Oh well, I had a pleasant time traveling through the archives.
I would like to add my congratulations on a fine comic and give thanks for putting it where I could read it. :)
