ConnectiCon is a multi-genre convention in Hartford, CT, that’s gotten a reputation for its posh treatment of webcomic guests! I’ve gone the past two years and it was a great opportunity to see a whole slew of webcomic talent in one place, and this year I will be joining them as a member of the Artists’ Colony. ^_^
Their new, completely overhauled website is up, and pre-registration is only $35 through March 15th! Now is an excellent time to get in on an awesome con!
Today is my birthday! I’m 23 today. (I share my birthday with Neil Sedaka and William H. Macy!) I’m not entirely sure what I’ll be doing tonight, but I will be seeing some friends, and then my mom and sister are coming to dote on me tomorrow. ^_^
Some convention things to mention!
Penguicon
I’m 99% sure I’m going to Penguicon! I’ve been talking to their very awesome webcomic programming head, and I’ll probably be serving up a Photoshop panel, and join in on some of the other webcomic programming. (Anyone want to split a hotel room?) I almost went last year, so I’m really excited to get up there this time around.
ConnectiCon
TOMORROW is the last day you’ll be able to pre-register for $35! On Sunday, the price goes up ten dollars, so if you haven’t registered for CTCon yet, do so as soon as possible. I promise, as a general attendee of Connecticon for the past two years, it is well worth it.
AnimePunch!
Time to plug my home convention again. AnimePunch is here in Columbus, and is notable for being an anime-only, college-aged convention with hours upon hours of academic programming, as well as epically awesome events. For instance, there will be Legends of the Hidden-fricking-Temple.
Preregistration is only $25, but it closes on March 27th! Can’t beat that price with a stick.
PHEW. Okay. Now that ColossalCon is over, this convention binge is officially OVER! That’s 9 cons in 11 weeks! Yowza.
My con report for ColossalCon is now up! It was an awesome con, and definitely a good note to end on!
My next convention isn’t until ConnectiCon, which is just under two months away. The break will be nice, but at the same time, I can’t wait! I’m looking forward to it so much. I plan for it to rock hard this year in a big way.
Just as a reminder, Volume II pre-orders are still open, but if you can’t get a copy right now, then just wait for Connecticon! I will be debuting Volume II in person there! That is, if my planning and timing works out with Ka-Blam printing it. Cross your fingers, everyone!
Now speaking of ConnectiCon, there is a new voting incentive on TopWebComics! It’s a peek at what I’m working on for ConnectiCon’s program cover art contest. Garanos needs more votes! We started off strong at the beginning of last month, but I’m a bit lower in the ranking here at the beginning of this month. (I blame the short vacation from updating, which is my own fault anyway.)
Last but not least, some art! This is the Volume II cover art and the picture of Garanos that I colored at my Photoshop panel at ColossalCon.
(If you follow my art blog, you will have already seen these! ^_^)
WELL. It seems that just like two years ago, Garanos’ third anniversary slipped by me unnoticed! Garanos turned 3 years old on June 13th. I’ll just have to have a big fanfare for the upcoming page 400 to make up for it!
But to celebrate, and kick off the new voting month at TopWebComics, the new voting incentive is a coupon code for one free Garanos wallpaper at Webcomic Wallpapers!
Happy Birthday, Gara! ^_^
One more thing: If you’re going to ConnectiCon (HELL YEAH) then this Saturday, july 4th, is the last day you can pre-register for $45! After that it goes up to $55, and at the door it’s $60. So if you haven’t pre-registered, then save some money and do so this weekend!
HEY GUYS! I just found out my location in ConnectiCon’s Artist Colony, and I’m too excited not to post it right away. I’ll be at table 32!
Here’s a mirror of the Artist Colony layout (PDF) so you can check out where everyone is!
Since I’m going all by my lonesome self to CTCon this year, I’m going to need some help covering my table here and there throughout the weekend.
If you’re willing and able, I will need table coverage from 4-5pm Friday while I’m on the Webcomics 101 panel with Pete Tarkulich. I’ll also need coverage from 1-3pm Saturday for the Webcomic Auction. At some point before the Webcomic Auction, I’ll also be flittering about getting my auction item, a t-shirt, autographed by as many of the webcomics as I can, which will probably take me another hour or so.
I can compensate you for your time in commission art, or if you’re of an arty persuasion yourself, you’re welcome to leave some of your stuff with me and I will sell it for you and proclaim how awesome you are to passers-by!
Also, you get to wear this very stylish and informative hat, modeled here by my friend Christina:
If you’re interested, shoot me an email, tweeter at me, or send me a private message on the CTCon forums. ^_^
My ConnectiCon report is up on my blog now! A very detailed account of my weekend can be found there. In the meantime, here is the list of shout-outs. ^_^

Hey guys! I wanted to post to point out that I’ve made some updates to my convention schedule for this year.
First off, my next convention is Animarathon at Bowling Green State University at the end of this month. If you’re in the NW Ohio area, this FREE anime convention is always a joy to attend! Did I mention it’s free?
I’m also locked in to return to ConnectiCon and Matsuricon again this summer! I may be returning to ColossalCon as well, but that’s still up in the air since their table prices increased by quite a bit this year. Unfortunately, some things come right down to money, and I’m trying to be more frugal and responsible with my business this year, after the insane convention binge I went on in 2009! ^_^;;
