![]() These pages, which I call the Originals, are the first incarnation of Garanos in comic form. I drew them in January of 2005 over two weeks, and they were intended to become a graphic novel within a year. Due to various circumstances, I never got them digitally finished. When it came for me to decide on a new comic project to work on, I definitely wanted to do Garanos, but there was just a tiny problem: It had been a year and a half since I drew these pages, and both my drawing and illustrating styles and changed and improved. There was a stark contrast between my contemporary coloring style and the way I'd been coloring the pages originally. So these pages were set to the side; I redid Garanos completely in a larger, full-page format, and the rest is history. I still had all these sketched and colored pages I wasn't doing anything with, so during my month of hiatus in September 2007, I posted these pages along with commentary of my own; what I still like about the drawings, what I changed and why, and why I didn't change the things that ended up verbatim in Volume I. I thought someone else might find them interesting as well, so here they are, divided up by the date they were posted: September 5th:
